Hello, my name is Mike and my wife’s name is Jessica, we got married in 2018 and we have 5 kids. While starting out we struggled with only one income, so we decided to take the leap into self-employment. We started a cleaning business; it went very well for us for the last 12 years.
One big job loss put us scrabbling to get enough income to pay bills. After a year and a half, we finally got enough jobs to get caught back up. Then one day (February 2023) I was bending down to pick up something and BOOM my back went out and I could hardly walk.
Who We Are

Jessica was working the jobs, taking care kid’s needs, household chores, and helping me. After 4 weeks I could still hardly walk or sit down or even get out of bed by myself. I just laid there wondering HOW THE HE** I’m going to go to work. By this point we had lost one of the new jobs (not for lack of doing our job) but so big corporations could save a few bucks. While I struggled to get better, we we’re hurting financially again. Trying to decide between food or bills and this or that. We came close to being foreclosed on twice this year (2025).
While I was not working, I started baking a few cookies and other snacks here and there to save a little money. Me and my wife both realized that we loved to bake. You know what they say – If you love your work, you don’t WORK a day in your life. We decided to start a home bakery so I could stop the physically demanding work.

Researching laws was pretty easy and knowing the laws for home food preparations is the most important thing you can do at this point in the business. We decided to start https://Freshlykneadedcottagegoods.com for 2 main reasons. First is the love for baking and cooking we both share. The second is the need for home baked goods in our state. There is a huge need for fresh non-preservative, natural food. We could be helping those in need with the extra breads, buns, scones, and rolls. Why wait until it’s moldy and needs thrown away when you could feed someone in need. Check out our other business for helping people in need at http://www.impactwellnesswellbeing.com
